more cowbell...errr I mean hexagon

I am really digging the stamp set I purchased from Schlosser Designs and it ties in so nicely with the Paper Issues Challenge (honey bee theme). I decided to use the largest frame of the stamp set and stamped it on pattern paper (Echo Park For The Record.......LOVE this paper set- I'm using it for a San Francisco Mini Album so I decided to use some scraps for this card.

Anyhow, I randomly stamped the fronts and backs of some of the patterns. I layered them onto a piece of paper, same stock as the card base. Then I added two punched borders on either side because it felt like it needed something more. After much deliberation, I decided to leave those hexagon shapes as the focal image. I wanted to put something on it (a bird maybe) but didn't want to cover up any of the papers because I love them all much more than would be considered normal. The only thing I don't like about it, and I shouldn't even point this out, but i intended for a horizontal layout so the words are sideways.... You'd think that with approximately 3,450 stamps laying around my room that I'd have had a sentiment that would have fit the card horizontally.....

But I needed this to be a sympathy card that so this is the way it ended up. Love the font of the sentiment. the inside says....You are in my prayers.  This is from Card Chatter- Sympathy and I love this stamp set. you can see it here

Thanks for stopping by. P.S. Where did May go??

honey bee challenge

Here is a card I created for the Honey Bee Challenge over at Paper Issues- super fun challenge and I encourage you to go play along!

I pulled out some new stamps that I've not yet played with but I thought they were perfect for the Honey Bee theme due to the shape of the stamps. I mixed and matched the different designs by first stamping the black frame and then filling in with the different stamps. I them trimmed them out and randomly placed them on the kraft cardstock and then added a little teeny happy birthday sentiment.

I also think this card is could pass for masculine, so its nice to have one of those stashed away when the occasion arises.

clean & simple for the weekend

Hello! I am about to enjoy a long weekend! I've been looking forward to this for a while...here is a card I made for the CAS sketch today....

Super simple. I trimmed some smoothie stock to go onto the kraft card and then stamped the woodgrain image repeatedly to create the background, stamped the happy birthday sentiment onto that then cut a flower using the Cricut and Art Philosophy Cartridge. I found a rhinestone brad. I like the rustic feel with a little bling!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Thanks for stopping by!

doilies & lace

Here is my card for the Doilies & Lace Challenge in the Moxie Fab World First I stamped the doily stamp in sunset and then I repeatedly stamped the background stamp over it in versamark and embossed in pearl silver.  The Happy Birthday sentiment is popped up and bent a bit so it's wavy which is easier to see in the photo below.

I like how it has a vintage-y feel yet is still clean & crisp.  I look forward to playing a bit more with this challenge and coming up with some other cards.

clean and simple today

Here's a super simple card I created for CAS. It consisted of stamping a background image onto the small square image in creme brule and then I cut out a flower on the circut and stamped a coordinating flower image on that layer and topped it with a wooden button and some waxy flax in cranberry to match the flower.

I'm really digging kraft and whtie together lately.

a note for you

Here is a card I created for this versatile sketch!  I ran the top layer of my card through the cuttlebug using the PTI embossing plate. The flowers were cut using the CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge  and then stamped with Hooray Bouquet in Tulip (a lovely color that I don't use enough). The sentiment a note for you....was stamped in twilight. The woodgrain background is from Universal Backgrounds was stamped by masking off the area and then stamping on the paper after it had the texture background on it- I like the affect it took on. Then I finished it up with some twine and a few adhesive adornments.
