moxie fab trigger

There is an awesome trigger going on over at Moxie Fab that was created by Kim.
The idea is to let the trigger inspire a creation. Here's the trigger:

Isn't that a beauty!! I am totally loving how elegant her card is even with the kraft paper... I decided to use yellow as the accent

Here is my card...

You can barely see it, but I created the same stamped images along the bottom of the inside of the card.

Card Recipe:
stamps- floral flourishes- inkadinkado, darcey collection- Anna Griffin

embellish border card

There is def. something about this color challenge that calls for an Easter card!

This is what I created- I combined some of my favorite stamp sets for this card. I love all the designs of the Easter Egg set and wish there was more of an opportunity for Easter Egg Cards!!

Anyhow, I created the background on top of CTMH textured stock- I love this stuff! The texture is perfect. Then, i stamped the eggs and trimmed them out from the same stock as the card base. They are mounted onto the card front. The sentiment layer is also on the same stock- ran that layer through the cuttlebug and embossed it. Also mounted.
For the border at the bottom, I ran both sides through the punch at the same time, making sure the front and back punches would line up. It was tough to punch, but I mustered through it!!

Card Recipe
stamps- darcey collection- Anna Griffin, Easter Eggs and Holiday Hoopla- CTMH
ink- baby pink, sweet leaf, buttercup and sorbet- CTMH
paper- CTMH Textured white stock
other- cuttlebug, nestabilities label 1, apron lace border punch-EK Success, foam tape

gettin' sketchy on a Saturday mornin'

I love productive Saturday mornings. For some reason I was up at 7am. I don't even get up that early on a work day...oh well, I turned the timer off on the coffee pot, since it was going to come on at 8...got that going, started and finished laundry, then headed up to the stamp room to create a card using this sketch:

Pretty simple, just layers and a couple of coordinating, bright, colors...

I repeated one of the stamped images on the inside of the card as well.

happy FRIDAY!!!

So glad it's Friday! And, I've come to expect awesome sketches from Natasha on Fridays as well....and she didn't disapoint. Loved the 4x6 card she did so I decided to follow suit as well!

My card came together very quickly, hence the fall-to-layout!! *wink* Anyhow, once I found this forgotten but favorite polka dot paper, I knew I had to let that speak for itself, so I kept the same super simple.
I love that the birthday sentiment looks so crisp below my new favorite stamp.

Well, I think we're going to watch a movie and wind down from the week.... Have a good night. Can't wait to wake up to some coffee and a few more card challenges I found in my google reader.

passion for papertrey challenge

Black & White! What a great combo. The challenge was to use at least one PTI product, so I used the super-cute rain boots as my focal point. I cut and mounted the boots onto the textured stock, which I thought looked sort of like rain. Then, since I just wasn't feeling it with any of my sentiments, I hand wrote simplify with my white pen and called it a day.

sweet sunday sketch

Karen had a great sketch this week! I think I'll be adding this to my "awesome sketches" folder.

I had some random scraps that went well with my color scheme. The patterned paper is from Imaginsce and I have liked it since I laid my hands on it, just never sure how to use them together (they were 6x6 pieces) that i trimmed down to fit the card.

Loving that flower fro my new stamps...

CPS 155

The sketch looked "easy" when I saw it this morning but I found myself to be a little challenged when I started playing. Maybe because I wanted to use a certain stamp for the long strips.

I used my very own Color Chef Challenge colors for some added inspiration.

Then I decided to repeat the pattern on the inside as well.

unscripted sketch

Found another way to use the new stamp sets I purchased today on CLEARANCE!! I used a nice, simple sketch from Unscripted Sketches
My card ended up being pretty simple in the end. Just some layers of paper and I used two pieces of hounds tooth ribbon. The flower that was used for the focal point, I first stamped in black on the white layer, then added a honey color flower mounted on top of that and finished it off with some black rhinestone adhesives.

Card Recipe:
stamps- sassy icons- me & my big ideas
ink- honey and black- CTMH
paper- textured honey, black and white- CTMH

day 356 sketch

Pam had a great sketch over at 365 cards. Here is her sketch..Thought it was the perfect opportunity to play with a new set of stamps that I bought today for $2.97- WOW! And the funny part is I've had my eye on this set of stamps, which has been in the clearance area for some time now, but the sticker said $4.97. I himmed and hawed about it and finally said "Kelly- it's $5, just buy it". So, when the cashier rang it up, I knew it was meant to be when it was only $2.97. Love it when stuff like that happens!

Man, I love Natasha's sketches...
Here is my card...I used MY color challenge for my card...

Color Chef Challenge #39
Cream
Kraft
Black

Happy Monday!

I was messing around in my stamp room over the weekend and a card combo just came to me! I decided to create something (that I thought) was elegant...

I used a column cream stock that I have in my paper stash (love it) and used that for the base of my card as well as the patterned layer. I stamped the background image twice on the layer under the sentiment so that it covered the layer. The best wishes sentiment is stamped on the same cream paper (a piece of scrap) and then mounted on top.

Pretty simply stamped, really! I could see this layout being used again :)

Card Recipe:
stamps- Darcey Collection- Anna Griffin
paper- cream column paper- from my paper stash, black-CTMH, kraft- Hobby Lobby
ink- desert sand, black- CTMH
other- foam mounting tape, EK Success Apron Lace Border Punch

Hope you'll find time to play along!

wedding card

Caardvarks
is hosting a fabulous contest on their site. Scrapbook Trends Cards Magazine is their sponsor and the chosen card will be published in their magazine!

Here is what I created....

I used one of my favorite background stamps from Anna Griffin- Darcey Collection and stamped a background on the cream layer. I used a delicate scallop border punch and decided to repeat that element in several places. The sentiment layer is mounted on the black and all the paper layers are repeated here.

I finished it off by putting a trio of various pearl sizes on each side of the sentiment! I could see this being a versatile card layout. I love the congratulations font inside the { } thingies and I wish it came with other words that had the same style.

Card Recipe:
stamps- Darcey Colletion- Anna Griffin
paper- garden green, black and cream- CTMH

Red

Cream (or white)

In honor of my friend who just returned from a year serving our country in Iraq, we're going patriotic this week!

Robert was separated from his family for a year serving in Basra. I can't imagine. To welcome him home, I've created this card that we will give him and I thought it would be a great color challenge for the week!!
I found the "oh happy day" stamp in my stash of wooden stamps and I thought it was perfect for this card. For the exclamation point, I used an adhesive rhinestone.

Card Recipe:
stamps: oh happy day (set unknown)- Stampin Up, Shining Star- CTMH, Flourishes- Autumn Leaves
ink- indian corn blue- CTMH
paper- indian corn blue, cream and cranberry- CTMH
other- Cuttlebug, nestabilties circle, EK Success Scallop Border, Me & My Big Ideas Adhesive Rhinestones

Hope you'll play along with the color Challenge!

color chef challenge #37 winner

Tammy gets to display this badge on her blog for winning the Color Chef Challenge #37
Here is her beautiful card that. That swirl paper is some of my favorite!

Thanks to everybody who took time to play!

bright sunny hi

There was a great sketch this week over at CPS.

Immediately I thought of a stamp that would work for the focal image. It's an old wooden stamp that has layers and layers of dust on it because I hardly ever use my wood stamps anymore. I used to have a "thing" for sun stamps when I began stamping nearly 14 years ago (where does the time go?)

The sun image was actually trimmed out from scrap paper- there is an addtional border that goes around the sun. To color the image, I used my watercolor pencils and a paintbrush with some water.

The polka dot patterns were stamped in coordinating colors to pull it all together. Then, since I used a very thin layer of black to help "pop" the colors, I decided to add the HI sentiment in the center of the sun. The sun is mounted and because I trimmed it out after I water colored, the edges really flare out- love how it turned out!

one card. two challenges

I used this sketch as the base for my card

I also incorporated Lucy's polka dot challenge. This card has lots of layers, but is generally pretty simple.

The loopy border under the sentiment was made by using the Fiskars border punch on both sides of the paper.

You can catch a glimpse of the boots that are "walking" across the inside of the card as well.

stamps- Green Thumb- Paper Trey Ink
paper- hollyhock, black and white- CTMH
ink- hollyhock, black- CTMH

clean & simple #77

Natash had another great sketch and it inspired me to use a set of stamps that I love but hardly ever use because I just can't get it to look right. Here is Natasha's sketch

Awesome, right?

Here is my card using the sketch.

For the image on the left, I stamped the large majestic stamp 3 times (starting in the middle and then running off the page on either end of the middle image).

Then, I thought there was a little too much white (or cream in this case) space, so I filled in the white area with another set of stamps from majestic with the green ink. It filled the space and tied both colors together nicely.

I used my new border punch for the olive colored paper . See the flower stamp that I used- fit perfectly in the space! I finished off the flower with a gorgous, little, rhinestone that I purcahsed over at Studio Getaway in Owatonna, MN- great little LSS you should check out if you are ever in the area!

Oh, I should mention that I used a scrap piece of paper for the focal image on the left, which was the same stock as I used on the base.

Love all the texture on this card!

Hope you have a fun weekend planned!

sweetest thing sketch

Karen had a great sketch and it allowed me to play with my new punch (that I finally was able to find at Joann's).

I didn't intend for the middle black circle layer under the sentiment but when I went to mount the top layer on the sweet leaf layer, I accidentally attached to the black layer first and couldn't rip it off:)

Card Recipe:

stamps- say it in style, treasure life- CTMH
other- Apron Lace Punch, nestabilities, cuttlebug.
