a little birdie

I combined a couple of my favorite stamp sets to come up with this card. The "a little birdie told me" stamp from American crafts worked perfectly with the whimsical bird stamp from The Paper Company

How I came up with this card is by accident... the bird stamp was new, so I was stamping it off a bit on my scrap pad to sort of break it in and I liked how the images looked on the paper, so I decided to have the birds fly off the page.

I think if I were to do the card over, I'd have one of the birdies be blue, like the color of the sentiment. You might see me create this again, doing just that and post it over!

We have a fun day planned at home- making a variety of foods for the day, a tiny bit of shopping and then we'll finsih the day off with some movies. Probably be sleeping by about 9pm, just like last year:

polka dot happy birthday

This isn't the card I set out to make, but I like how it turned out. And SIMPLE!!
The hardest part of this card was correctly lining up the polka dot background stamp.

After I ran the label 1 piece through the Cuttlebug, I gently drug the piece through my black ink pad just to help it pop off the card front a little more!

Hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend! We're planning on doing nothing to bring in the New Year! We have a fun menu planned throughout the day, renting a couple of movies and will try to stay warm! Baby it's cold outside!!

Card Recipe:
stamps- happy birthday, spot on background- CTMH, Whimsical Birds- The Paper Company
ink- cranberry, black and honey- CTMH
other- cuttlebug, nestabilities label 1, 3m foam mounting tape, EK Success border scallop punch

Warm Wishes

Happy Saturday!

Hope you all had a very, very, Merry Christmas! We got tons of snow over Christmas. By tons I mean about 18 inches in 3 days...it made for a fun, white, Christmas!

Found this fun sketch over at Jen's blog and I had to give it a try.

Here is my card....

I stamped the polka dot layers and inked the edges in the same cranberry ink.
The sentiment layer as well as the scalloped shapes are mounted for some height. Finished the snowflakes off with some clear adornments by Hero Arts!

Loving this combo lately!

I'm feeling a bit crafty, so you might see more of me today. Hope you enjoy your weekend!

Easy Christmas Gift Tags

Since I'm hosting a little get together tomorrow night, I'm supposed to be preparing appetizers and cleaning like a mad woman, I thought I'd post a blog post instead!

I whipped these Christmas tags out before work this morning because the thought popped into my head while I was in the shower this morning and I figured I better make them now while I'm thinking about i!

The tags couldn't have been easier- I punched two squares (one small, one large) and taped them together, stamped a monogram on each one and added a cute little Christmas ornament stamp to the corner. Finished!

Card Recipe:
paper- from my paper stash
stamps- whimsy caps, holiday hoopla- CTMH
other- EK Success scallop punches
ink- topiary, cranberry

Happy Holidays!

Stampin Up- Do you know the names of these sets?

I could use your help identifiying the name of this stamp set by Stampin Up.

This set is from 1997.

This alphabet set is from 1998

Truth be told, I plan to sell them on ebay and I'd like to correctly name the listing if possible! I'd really appreciate your help if you know what they are called!

Just Us Girls Sketch Challenge

I am new to Just Us Girls and let me tell you, I love what I see!
I'm feeling crafty today, so I immediately ran to my stamp room to whip out a card for this weeks challenge.

Here is the sketch
And here is my card. I left the ribbon off but otherwise stayed pretty true to the sketch.

I trimmed the pattern paper slightly smaller than the base of the card. Then I took a piece of scrap stock that is the same as the baes and stamped Merry Christmas in brown, then the flourish in green and inked the edges in pink to give some depth.
Mounted that piece and then took the green and pink circles and stamped snowflakes accordingly, inked those edges and finished them off with e rhinestones!
Then, I scattered two teeny tiny rhinestones on the flourishes

Card Recipe:
stamps- Merry Christmas-Hero Arts, Alpine Frost- SEI
paper- cream from my paper stash, patterned paper- The Paper Studio
ink- garden green, hollyhock and chocolate- CTMH
other- Kaiserkraft rhinestones, 3m foam mounting tape

Have a great weekend! I love this month!!
