color chef challenge #31

I just love this color combo. So fresh and clean!

Color Chef Challenge #31
Aqua (CTMH Ocean)
Red (CTMH Cranberry)
White

Well, truth-be-told, I am not one of those people who already has my Christmas Card design ready to go yet...I'm working on it and this card is a contender! I love how clean and simple it is and I've been leaning toward this color combo for a few months now.

If I really get my act together, there is a really nice sentiment (in a very cool font, I might add) that would be fun to send out to kick off the holiday season and wouldn't it be great to get the cards done EARLY for a change! I know you're all on the edge of your seats wondering what the sentiment is, so I might just post a card using it this week!

My card for tonight was simple, really. So on to the details~ I layered the same stock for all layers and I think that helps keep it crisp! I ran a layer through the cuttlebug as well as through the nestabilities shape.

Card Recipe:
stamps- Alpine Frost- SEI, Festive Thoughts- CTMH
ink- cranberry and ocean- CTMH
other- Hero Arts Adhseive Gems, cuttlebug, cuttlebug tiny dots folder, Nestabilities Label 1

color chef challenge #30

WOW!!! 30 of these challenges! I hope you've enjoyed them like I have. I can't believe how dependent I've become on challenges to help spark the creativity!

This weeks color challenge comes from a can of shave cream that my husband brought home from the grocery store.

Color Chef Challenge #30
white
grey
black
turquoise

For my card, I created a background by stamping the border stamp in grey on either side of black. Then I stamped a flower image on a scrap piece of stock (the same as the card base) and mounted it on top of the border image. Then, because I smudged some black under the thank you sentiment, I decided to stamp that on scrap as well and mount that. I like how it turned out! Clean and fresh. And SIMPLE!

Card Recipe

stamps- boutique borders, tickled pink- CTMH, Anna Griffin Darcey Collection
paper- textured white, grey wool- CTMH
ink- grey wool, ocean-CTMH
other- Pearl brad from The Paper Studio

**Remember you can use any brand ink colors (I happen to be using CTMH). Upload your card using Mr.Linky. If you have issues with uploading, feel free to link to your card by leaving a comment!

girly birthday card

We celebrated my nieces 1st birthday yesterday. This is the card I made for her.

Pretty simple. I ran a layer of white stock (same as the top layer of the card) through the cuttlebug, then used my square punch to cut the scallop shape. On top of that layer, I mounted a sweet pea image.
That's all folks!

Card Recipe:
paper- blush & white- CTMH
ink- blush and pink carnation- CTMH
stamps- green thumb- PTI, Happy Birthday- CTMH
other- argyle cuttlebug folder, cuttlebug, EK Success Square Scallop Punch, 3m foam mounting tape.

Ad Inspired Card

I loved the challenge over at 365 this week... This room was the inspiration:

And this is my interpretation:

I loved how the stamped background is so similar to the bedspread! I thought it called for something elegant, so I decided to turn it into a congratulations card and keep it simple. Then, I finished it off with liquid pearls under the sentiment.

Card Recipe:
stamps- Anna Griffin Darcey Collection
paper- moonstruck- CTMH
ink- moonstruck- CTMH
other- liquid pearls

tree card

Here is a photo of a card that I made weeks ago and forgot to post. I used one of my color challenges for the inspiration.

I thought the ribbon looked a little spooky and worked well with the tree. I added a few sparkles to bling up the tree!

Hope your week went well. TGIF!!

Card Recipe:
stamps- Harvest by Scrappy Cat
other- rhinestones- Recollections, cuttlebug, circle nestabilities, ribbon-from my ribbon stash

unscripted sketch

I was able to combine some great papers with a great sketch!

I was able to use some papers that I've been hoarding because I Love them and have been waiting for the right moment! So, this card didn't require much stamping. The stamped image (cupcake stand) is stamped on the reverse side of the striped card base. I colored the cupcakes in with my Sakura pens. The circle images on the right are punched out from another sheet of coordinating cards tock and I added a sparkly brad on each one.
Then, hard to notice but the horizontal stripe that goes through the middle circle and the middle of the cupcake layer was actually cut out from the scraps of the base card stock!

Card Recipe:
Paper- Bo Bunny Delilah Promise and Delilah Stripe
stamps- Studio G Cupcake
other- EK Success Circle Punch, The Paper Studio glitter mini brads, Sakura pens

Plum Crazy...Moxie Fab Style { 2 }

I'm really using the plum challenge over at Moxie Fab to help unlock some inspiration today- hopefully you'll be inspired to do the same!

Here is another, very simple, card incorporating plum....

I like how stamping on textured paper adds a layer of interest!

I stamped the background image on the smokey plum textured stock and then punched each piece out with a scallop punch. the thank you layer is mounted on top to finish it off!

Card Recipe:
stamps- spot on background- CTMH, Darcey Collection- Anna Griffin
ink- smokey plum
paper- smokey plum and cream- CTMH
other- Scallop Square punch- EK Success, 3M foam mounting tape

Plum Crazy...Moxie Fab Style

Cath, over at Moxie Fab does the best job of finding inspiration. This challenge was all about plum...here is my interpretation...

Very simply stamped. The lighter shade of purple is actually the reverse side of the textured card stock- EASY PEASY!!

My card Recipe:

Paper-Smokey Plum textured stock- CTMH
ink- smokey plum- CTMH
stamps- tickled pink- CTMH
other- EK Success Border Punch, Spare Parts Pearl Brads, adhesive pearls- Michaels, 3M foam tape

Lots of Layers

I couldn't stop with the layers on this one!
The tiny strip is the scrap that is left over from using the EK Success punch that I decided not to let go to waste. For the stamped leaves, I just randomly stamped the leaves in two colors and punched them out with my square punch. EASY!

I felt like it needed something, so I used these clear gems from hero arts.

I like all the texture and layers on this card!

Card recipe:

stamps- treasure life- CTMH
paper- white texture paper, autumn terra cotta, outdoor denim and new england ivy-allTMH
other- EK Success square punch and large scallop border punch, Hero Arts Adhesive Gemstones

Embellish Card Submission

Hi Blog Readers!

I have not stamped in almost two weeks and it felt so good to get back in the stamp room today! My job has consumed my time the last couple of weeks and now that Halloween is over, I'll have lots more stamping time!

I just love Ashley's blog and if you haven't checked it out, she's publishing a new website called Embellish.

I decided to play along. It was most fitting for me because I just picked up a new set of Bird Stamps- so I got to play with a new owl for this card. The challenge was to use brown, green and coral along with some kind of an olive. Here is my card:

For the background of the coral layer, I stamped with the Intrinsic Background stamp using Sorbet ink on the Sorbet paper. Then, I inked the edges of that layer with Sorbet ink. I left the top piece of that paper blank, and at the edge of the stamped line the background created, I layer of green paper that was punched with my border punch.

The nesties layers were both embossed. The own was stamped and then mounted and I stamped a second piece of the image in green for the leaves.

Hope you have a great Sunday!

Card Recipe:
Stamps- Intrinsic Backgrounds-CTMH, Whimsical Birds-TPC Studios
Paper- cream (from the paper stash), chocolate, sorbet, sweet leaf- All CTMH
ink- sorbet, chocolate, sweet leaf- all CTMH
other- nestabilities label 1, cuttlebug, 3m foam mounting squares, EK Success scalloped border punch
