Lord have Mercy Sketch #40

Don't know how I've never come across Mercy's blog but did I ever fall in love!

Here is Mercy's sketchAnd here is the card I created.
I have always loved the patterned paper I used on this card. They are the same sheet. One is the other side of the other. I forget the manufacture.

The card is very simple- just layers. I sponged the edge of the Fall layer with a sponge and my ink pad.

I hope the rest of your weekend is great! I'm off to the store to get groceries for the week. Soups on the menu! Mmmmmmmmm

Card Recipe:
stamps- homestead alphabet- CTMH
paper- autumn terra cotta, vanilla- CTMH, DP- unkown
ink- autumn terra cott and garden green- CTMH
other- ribbon- from my ribbon stash, button- CTMH

monochromatic mania

I loved the monochromatic color challenge over at OCC. I also really love the tree that I used on this card. I did a resist on this tree by clear embossing the tree on the same cream that is used for the base of the card. Then I rubbed my ink pad all over and wiped it off with a paper towel. Then I put a couple of pearls on some of the brown buds of the tree. The tree is mounted on top of the card and I realized that my PSE made the ribbon a little darker than it is in real life. And for the patterned background, I ran the brown stock through the cuttlebug and actually used the back side of the paper.

Hope your weekend is great! I'm glad it is only Saturday- I have a looong work week ahead of me.

cuppa coffee

Hi Peeps!! It's almost Friday! Gotta love that...here is a simple card that I made for a friend who was laid off from her job after 13 years. Ugh. I distressed the brown and crystal blue layers and couldn't figure out what to do with the coffee cup, so I just left it alone! The paper has a distressed look as well. I like the simplicity of it.

Loving your cards for the color chef challenge! Have a great rest of the week and I hope you enjoy your weekend!

color chef challenge #23

Color Chef Challenge
orange (CTMH autumn terra cotta)
green (CTMH garden green)
brown (CTMH cocoa)
cream or white

One of my favorite things about fall is all of the earth tone colors. This combo is a favorite of mine and I hope you have fun playing with it!

For my card, I creatd a background by repeatedly stamping the pear to create rows. I alternated them by stamping them upside down and right-side up and then in rows of colors as well. Other than the little swag stamp in this set, I was able to incorporate the rest of the stamps on this card and for some reason, that amused me.

Card Recipe:
stamps- Autumn Splendor- Making Memories
ink- autumn terra cotta, garden green, cocoa- CTMH
paper- vanilla cream & cocoa- CTMH
other- square scallop nestabilities, cuttlebug

I hope you'll play along!

back to reality

We were on vacation last week to celebrate our anniversary and we're back home now. All good things must come to an end, I guess! We had a great week. We were waaaaay up north in MN. We went camping and the lake we were on borders Ontario. We racked up 841 miles getting there and back. On the way, we stopped in Grand Marais, MN and ate at the infamous Sven & Ole's.

Here's a few pictures.

Me in Grand Marais, MN

The shoreline in Grand Marias

Our campsite was right on the lake. We are camping in MN but the land you see in the background is Ontario, Canada!
A pretty tree in our site.
My sister-in-law borrowed me Twilight and I finished it during the trip- awesome!

Oh, and I stamped a card before we left....here it is

The card was easy and would be super easy to reproduce!! I cut two nesting squares, stamped the same image in three different colors to match the cardstock and then popped the stamped layer and attached them all to the cardfront, but not before adhering a piece of ribbon! Voila!

Hope you are having a great weekend. There is a touch of summer left before our weather cools down to normal, 70 degree temps this next week.

new schtuff!

It was my birthday last weekend and I got some scratch-off lottery tickets and won $23 !! So, I figured that was a good enough reason to visit Hobby Lobby and let me tell you.... I about skipped up and down the aisles- in the last couple of days, they have a new, entire 3 foot section of nestabilities in nearly every shape that I've ever dreamed of owning, they have a huge selection of Zing embossing powders, Martha Stewart and EK Success border punches, new clear stamp lines including American Crafts and a line that I've very recently noticed- TCP.

Yeeeee Hawwwwwwwwwwwwwww

I'm in stamping heaven and I can't wait for the sales in those sections!!!!!

So.....onto the card that I made with my new schtuff!!! I have had my eyes out for the perfect coffee set- I see the cutest darn cards with a coffee theme and wanted some for myself. So I snatched the Coffee Cafe set off the rack as well as a MS border punch (cause it was 40% off).I used my own color challenge for the inspiration. I sponged the edge of the cuttle bug label 1 in black, I stamped the coffee mug onto a separate piece of stock and mounted it to the label 1. I love the little argyle design on the coffee cup, so I colored that in with a yummy glaze pen and used a couple of adhesive rhinestones for some bling.

Hope your week is going great! I'm on vacation next week and we're going camping waaaaaaay up north. The lake we'll be on goes into Canada. We should see some awesome colors!

Card Recipe:
stamps- Coffee Cafe- TPC Studio
ink- CTMH black
paper- textured stock (red and orange)- Hobby Lobby, vanilla cream and black- CTMH
other- MS Arch Lattice edge Punch, Recollections Adhesive Crystals, nestabilities Label 1, cuttlebug, Sakura glaze pen

color chef challenge # 21

Happy Labor Day Peeps! I hope you are having a great, and hopefully long weekend! The weather here is absolutely to-die!! It was my birthday Saturday and we had a great celebration! I'll probably share some pictures in a future post.

Onto the color challenge for this week:

Color Chef Challenge #21
Red
Orange
Black
White
My card was pretty simple. I actually used a CPS sketch for inspiration. Sometimes I find I can't get going without a sketch- does that ever happen to you??

To create the 3 rectangle images, I stamped them one time onto paper that was trimmed down to the size I wanted. Hard to tell because the mounting tape is not thick, but each of those layers are each mounted and finished off with a button. The sentiment is also mounted. The white layers are all created out of textured paper for some extra umpf.

Card Recipe:
stamps- darcey collection- Anna Griffin, Sentiments Large- American Crafts
ink- orange, cranberry, black- all CTMH
other- buttoms from walmart, 3m foam mounting tape

Don't forget to grab the code to have a Color Chef Banner on the side bar of your blog!

I hope you'll play along!

it's the most wonderful time of the year

September! I love the fall season and wish it would slow down a bit so I can enjoy it!

I snuck in a card tonight for Dawn's color challenge- loved this one! When I saw the colors, I knew I wanted to do something clean and crisp with the combo.

I ran the cream colored stock through the cuttlebug, trimmed it up a bit and attached it to the card front. I stamped the leaf on a gold shimmer using brown staz on ink and mounted that to the top of the card. The sentiment is also mounted.

Card Recipe:
stamps- Season of Change, Treasure Life- CTMH
ink- timber brown staz on, cocoa- CTMH
paper- kraft and gold shimmer from my paper stash, cocoa, vanilla cream-CTMH
