color chef challenge #20

Can you believe we've done 20 of these challenges? I've totally enjoyed the fact that you visit my blog and create a project based on my colors- thank you to anybody who has ever played, and an extra big thank you to those that come back week after week!

Onto the challenge:
Color Chef Challenge #20
Orange (CTMH Autumn Terra Cotta)
Gold (CTMH Goldrush)
Cream (CTMH Vanilla )

For my card I did an emboss-resist using my versamark pad. I clear embossed the flower stamp randomly on my paper and then came in with some sponges dabbed in both the autumn terra cotta and the goldrush. The dots on either top or bottom were my Liquid Pearls- love how it matched today's colors!

I hope you'll play along!

get well soon

Here is a very simple card I created . Again, used my new favorite American Crafts stamps for the orange border and the sentiment. The orange piece is actually cut out and mounted onto the card. Feel better soon is stamped into the center of the orange piece.

I got the felt ribbon at Archiver's quite some time ago and it worked beautifully on this card.

Hope you are having a great start to the weekend! It's beautiful weather here today- a high of 68. That's my kind of day!! We're picking my 4 year old niece up to spend the day and have a sleep over with us. Should be fun. We have lots of activities planned. Should be a good day!

Card Recipe:
paper- pattern paper- my minds eye, cream stock- from my paper stash
ribbon- brown felt ribbon- Creative Cafe
ink- autumn terracotta, crystal blue- CTMH

Thanks to Kristina's tip on how to flatten the liquid pearls, I have been playing with all sorts of colors and thought they would be a perfect edition to the flowers!

Pretty simple card!

color chef challenge #19

Color Chef Challenge #19

deep red (CTMH Barn Red)
green (CTMH Olive)
cream (CTMH Vanilla Cream)

My photo editing brightened up the green in this photo- if you are familiar with CTMH Olive, it is much more muted than it appears in my picture. Regardless, I'm digging the color combo for this week and can't wait to see what you'll create!

To create the layered squares, I used my EK Success 1 1/4" punch for the cream layer and then simply trimmed a barn red paper layer that was 1 1/2" x 1 1/2".

My card recipe:
stamps- Sentiments Small- American Crafts
paper- olive, cream, barn red- CTMH
ink- barn red and olive- CTMH

I hope you'll play along!

color chef challenge #18 winner

Check out the super cute card that Amy made for the CCC#18!

Love it- she has a great blog. you should go check it out! Her name in the sentence above is a link to her blog. Thanks for playing everybody!

lot's of new stamps and a garden vegetable recipe

Made a trip yesterday to Archivers and found myself to be in prime shopping form! I bought FIVE- count 'em FIVE stamp sets! I combined two of them for this card that uses Dawn's color challenge.

I clear embossed the scallop image in versamark. Then I stamped the flower images on scrap cream paper and punched them out using a circle punch. Finished them off with buttons and cream waxy flax.

Our vegetables are coming in like crazy. We went out in the misty rain the other night and picked a few cucumbers, tomatoes, rosemary and chives. We came up with this little recipe- super simple and delish!

cucumber
tomato
chives
basil
rosemary
feta cheese crumbles
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup olive oil

mix all that up and season with a little salt & vinegar.

Card Recipe:
paper- sorbet-CTMH, cream- from my paper stash
stamps- Sentiments Large, Sentiments Small- American Crafts
ink- garden green and watermelon- CTMH
other- buttons- CTMH, waxy flax- CTMH, 1 1/2" EK Success paper punch

Hope you had a great weekend!

color chef challenge # 18

Color Chef Challenge #18
green
purple
brown
cream

I have been playing around with this color combo for the last series of cards that I did and decided to make it into a color challenge!

For my card, this is all one piece of paper (except for the middle butterfly which was mounted onto the cardstock). First, I stamped the background in green, then I stamped the labels and sentiment in cocoa, and last I stamped the butterflies in purple and as I already mentioned, stamped an additional butterfly, cut it out and mounted in the center. Finished it off with a couple of rhinestone adhesives!

My card recipe:
paper- cream from my stash
ink- lime pastel and wisteria from Colorbox Chalk, cocoa- from CTMH
stamps- Darcey Collection- Anna Griffin
other- adhesive rhinestones, 3M tape

I hope you'll play along!

super sketchy sunday

Decided to play along with the sketch today over at 365 Here is Pam's sketch:

And here is what I came up with....

I used some pattern paper from Basic Grey that I love but have been trying to figure out how to use. Decided today was the day to figure it out and since it reminds me of sort of a western style, I paired it with kraft paper and blue ink....

And, I tried a technique that I saw over at Gina K where you ink up your cuttlebug folder- so awesome and EASY!!! I simply inked up the folder (on the inside back side), laid my paper down and ran it through the Cuttlebug. It was that darn easy! Trimmed it up to get rid of extra ink in places ink shouldn't be and attached it to the card.

I taped down the ribbon on the back of the layer it lays off and finished it off with a popped up thank you sentiment.

Card Recipe:

paper- kraft from my stash, pattern paper vintage tee from Basic Grey
stamps- Darcey Collection- Anna Griffin
ink- prussian blue- colorbox chalk inkpad
Other- cuttlebug, cuttlebug argyle folder, ribbon, 3m foam tape

best wishes

same stamps, different look. The flowers that are on the left side of the card is a border stamp that I just repeated three times. the Best wishes is inside of a border stamp that fits pretty well with my nestabilities label!!

I noticed when I was editing my photo that the center, bigger pearl fell off the bottom of my card before taking the picture. Bummer. I suppse Jack (my shih Tzu) has already eaten that.

Hope your weekend is going well! One more day of relaxation for me before heading back to a crazy work week. And, I uploaded 168 pictures from my trip to scrapbook today- better get going!!!

Card Recipe:

ink- wisteria, lime pastel- Colorbox Chalk Inks, cocoa- CTMH

todays bounty

This is what we picked from the gardens this morning! So pumped...I am thinking of making either roasted tomatoes and/or bruschetta- I have a ton of basil as well. But it might be a better choice to wait for my romas to ripen for the bruschetta.

simple card

For this card, I took a more simple approach. I love the versatility of the stamp set I bought and still can't get over the fact that it was $2.47

I think the tiny column texture in the paper helps pull off the simplicity of this card. My only complaint with this set of stamps is that it had more sentiments with the parenthesize. But beggers can't be choosers, right?

Not sure if you can see, but the dot on the i in the sentiment is adorned with a tiny pearl.

Hope you are having a wonderful Saturday! Looks like there are some storms heading our way. Can't wait for them!

ink- lime pastel- colorbox chalk, cocoa- ctmh

new stamps

I made a little trip to Michael's the other day armed with my 40% off coupon. Couldn't find anything to spend it on because everything I wanted was on sale! Love when that happens. Imagine my surprise when I happened upon a set of clear stamps that I've had my eyes on by Anna Griffin (Darcey Collection) in the clearance section! $2.47 people!!!

And, another weird thing happened to me that night but I came home and whipped up 4 cards with this set of stamps. So awesome to hit a creative surge like that! I stuck with the same paper and ink pads. Made it easy!

here is one of the cards I made.

First, I stamped the backround image by randomly stamping the image in different colors all over the paper. then I distressed the edges and adhered it to the cocoa stock and then to the card front.

Then, I stamped the thank you sentiment on a scrap piece of stock (same as the card base), cut it out and mounted it onto the card and finished her off with a couple of embellishments.

Have you noticed the Recollections Collection at Michaels? Love it- awesome quality and cheap! I'm trying to figure out the brand. It appears to be Michaels newest private label of products. I'm totally impressed!

Have a great weekend! I plan to scrap my San Francisco trip!!

Card Recipe:
paper- cocoa- CTMH, Cream paper from my stash

Garden Vegetable Recipes??

Not sure if I ever showed pictures of the raised gardens that my DH built, but below is the picture of them with newly planted vegetables. We planted the following: banana peppers, green peppers, red peppers, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, Roma tomatoes, viva italia tomatoes, beefsteak tomatoes, basil, garlic chives, rosemary and oregano.

Three months later and we have a ton of vegetables that are going to be ready for picking in the upcoming weeks!

What I'm hoping you can help me with is sharing some of your favorite garden recipes that include the vegetables I listed above.

I am creating a mini cookbook with my fave recipes and I'd love to add to it if you have something great to share with me!

color chef challenge # 17

Color Chef #17
vineyard berry
cocoa
colonial white

Hi everybody!
Happy Monday.

I've been stamping with a color (vineyard berry) that I haven't used in some time lately and decided to turn it into a color challenge for this week.

This card is pretty simple. I made some "grass" out of the leaf stamp. I also did second generation stamping here to help fill in the space. I made a sun out of the flower image by sticking it in the left hand corner. The sentiment is stamped and I tried to make it look 'wavy' in the wind, as if the message were blowing across the grass. I mounted that layer and decided to scallop the bottom of the cocoa stock.

I hope you'll play along!
