color chef challenge #9

Color Chef Challenge # 9

black
white
red (CTMH cranberry)
dark yellow (CTMH honey)
Happy Monday! Today is my first day of work at my new job so it's a "big" Monday for me!! Always nice to get the first day out of the way.

Again, I played with some new stamp sets and I looove them both!! I saved a layout similar to the one I used in this card but I don't know who the card layout belongs to. It seems like a versatile layout that I will get more use out of!

My inkpad is on the fritz and I need to replace it. I used the nestabilities to get the scallop and circle shapes. I mounted the top circle layer. I also mounted the sentiment layer. And I made the "banner" shape by just cutting off the end of the honey paper. The honeycomb pattern that is repeated on the three white layers is a stamp! I love making my own border paper.

I also used a layer of white stock for the inside. Repeated the border punch and used another of the stamps that came with the Extreme Happiness set. I like how it sort of flows along with the border punch.

My card recipe:
paper- black, white daisy, cranberry- all CTMH
stamps- boutique borders and extreme happiness- both CTMH
ink- honey, cranberry, black- all CTMH
other- EK Success Wave Border Punch, Nestabilities, Cuttlebug, Me & My Big Ideas Rhinestones, 3m Foam Mounting Tape

Upload by Sunday at 10am (CST) using Mr. Linky. If you have questions about the rules, please refer to this post. **Remember you can use any brand ink colors (I happen to be using CTMH).

I hope you will play along. Can't wait to see what you create!

Check out the awesome card that Brit made. Thanks for continuing to play, Brit! I always love to see what you create!

And, on a positive note...Mr. Linky should work for future posts!! A color combination is on tap for the morning!!

cards made from new stamps!

oh, how I love new stamps. I combined two new sets on this card and something i haven't done for a long time- just used a plain, white card...no layers, no embellishments. nothing but one piece of paper!

On a side note, I was able to work out the Mr. Linky problems which means it SHOULD be up and ready to go in the morning for our 9th color contest! And, I hope you'll like it as much as I do. And, no it's not the color combo I used on this card!

I hope you all had a fab-O weekend.

tickled pink

I got a bunch of new goodies in the mail today. I finally got to play with the stamp set, Tickled Pink. I used it for this card and it's an easy stamp to layer. The stamped image is actually just one stamp, but I stamped it first on the card, then twice more in different colors on scrap paper, cut them out and mounted them to the card front.

Finished 'er off with some stickles and we have ourselves a pretty, simple card!

Hope your week is going great!

raspberry suite color challenge 7

*** My Cards For Heroes post is right below this post.

Dawn hosted a really sweet and simple color challenge today. I also used Jen's SFYTT (sketch for you to try) as the base for this card. It was a fun sketch. I've never tried her sketches before, not sure why.

The card is pretty simple but is made up of a lot of layers. I hadn't used my Cottage Floral Stamp set in some time and it was fun to pull that baby out for today's card.

Card Recipe:
paper- white daisy- CTMH, green pink solids are from DCWV Paper Matte Stack, DP from Basic Grey Urban Prairie
stamps- cottage floral- CTMH
other- EK Success Parisian Border Punch, nestabilities label 1, nestabilities scalloped circle, cuttlebug

Hope you are having a nice, long weekend!

Color Chef Challenge #7

Today's inspiration:

I really like essie nailpolish and when I was on their site this morning, this bottle jumped out. I like how clean it looks so I decided to go with it for today's card.

Color Chef Challenge #7

light green (CTMH Sweet Leaf)
dark green (CTMH Topiary)
white (CTMH White Daisy)

And, I'm super pumped for the raised garden beds that my husband, brother-in-law and a friend built for me.....more details and pictures coming soon. I took my card picture on the raised garden bed today so you can see a hint of it in the picture!

This card was super simple to make...I trimmed the white layers to fit the sweet leaf layer, stamped the dots and then rubbed the edges through my topiary ink pad. The cupcake image is stamped and raised for height and interest.

My Card Creation

I thought the start of spring calls for some spring-y colors! I didn't do very much stamping on this card, just the sentiment.

For the flowers, I ran them through to cut the shape and then ran them through again to emboss them and finished them off with some pearl brads.

Card Recipe:
paper- buttercup, sweet leaf, spring iris and lilac mist- All CTMH
stamps- gracious greetings- CTMH
ink- sweet leaf- CTMH

pretty flowers

I hope my pinks aren't too light for Dawn's challenge but I like how they go together. I have forever loved the flower stamp that I used in the card above. It is a two-stamp process but I like just the outline. I randomly repeated this image in both the dark pink and the light pink. Finished them babies off with some awesome rhinestone crystals.

The card needed something more than just the focal image so I decided to emboss Happy Birthday. Thanks to my trusty versamark pad, I got a nice, crisp image.

Card Recipe:
stamps- happy birthday and rustic flowers- CTMH
ink- versamark embossing pad, baby pink and pink carnation- all CTMH
other- Kaiser Scrapbook Adhesive Rhinestone Crystals, EK Success Border Punch, CTMH Embossing Powder

congratulations card

I feel like it's been ages since I've stamped last. I've done some serious garage sale-ing the last three days and I'm wiped out!!!! But, I've been missing my stamp room something terrible.

I used Kristina's color challenge for inspiration and realized I barely eeked this card in on time.
This was a fun color combo! I wasn't sure what color I wanted to be the focus of the card and since I had a large piece of mustard stock, I worked around that!

I played with some new goodies.....the border punch, the flourish stamp and the flower.

Hope your weekend is going well! I'm enjoying some edameme hummus from Trader Joes- both are my latest obsession. Have you ever tried it? I think I'm going to try making the edameme version myself because for as much as I like it, it's a pretty small container for a couple of bucks.

Card Recipe:

Stamps: Floral Flourishes- Inkadinkado, For Every Occasion- CTMH
Paper: DCWV, brown from my stash, white daisy- CTMH

My card that incorporates the sketch & color chef challenge

you rock birthday card

So, I made this card for my brother-in-law. He has a birthday this week (yeah for me...I'm actually going to get a card out on time) and he plays guitar in a band....so this card not only looked masculine, but the guitar stamp and sentiment is spot on.

The card isn't exactly what I had playing in my mind, but I left it as is. The brown kraft paper looked kind of cool against this green polka dotted paper. I distressed the edges of the two top layers.

Card Recipe:
paper-WR Memory Keepers, brown and kraft paper from my stash
stamps- Inkadinkado- Rock Star
other- Heidi Swapp Distresser

birthday set

I decided to use the sketch from here as today's inspiration for a little birthday set for my mom. We don't exchange gifts anymore, but it's always fun to get a little something....and doesn't a cute little homemade gift make a birthday feel special?

I made a little bag out of my nestabilities by creating two label shapes (the largest one) and then attaching them to a small sized coffee bag. I trimmed most of the coffee bag off so that it sits just slightly under the label shape.

I repeated the ribbon feature from the card to use as the handle as well as a decorative element on the front of the card. Finished the ribbon "handle" off with some giant rhinestone brads that are a similar shade to the blue paper.

I tried to pull colors from the ribbon for the card and I like how they all pop against each other. The ribbon was both fun and a bit challenging because it had an adhesive backing on it. So, it did create some frustration, but when I figured out how I wanted to use it, it worked great. Unfortunately, I did waste a bit trying to get the finished product.

I got 3 jars of the prima flowers at a garage sale over the weekend for just $1 a bottle- isn't that an awesome find!! Thought it would be fun to use them here.

In both the card and the gift bag, the vase is popped off the page for a bit of height.

I stuck a few Mary Kay goodies in the little gift bag, which will be a fun little surprise.

Hope your weekend was swell! Awesome weather today. Why does the best weather ALWAYS happen late in the day on a Sunday? LOL.

Now, I'm off for another challenge- a birthday card for my brother-in-law who also has a birthday this week. WOW- might I be early with a card? Gasp....that never happens. Male cards are always a challenge for me, but I think I'm on to something with a concept that is in my head. We'll see if I can make it work on the paper.

Card Recipe:
paper- Blue & Brown- DCWV, white daisy- CTMH
stamps- With Love-CTMH
other- DCWV Preppy Adhesive Ribbon, prima flowers, buttons-Walmart, The Paper Studio Gem Brads, Cuttlebug, Nestabilies Label 1, 3 M Foam mounting tape

Leslie's card was picked via random. Her card is so bright and cheery. Makes me want to go to the beach! Thanks for playing Leslie- can't wait to see more of what you create!

Dawn's Color Challenge

Dawn's Color Challenge

My card:

Happy Friday! This card is pretty simple, although it involves lots 'o layers. The blue and polka dotted papers are the same sheet- solid on the back, polka dots on the front. I wish I had bought more of this paper- it's thick, has a slight texture to it and I love it!

Card Recipe:
paper- My Mind's Eye Wild Asparagus, brown paper from my stash
stamps- Floral Flourishes- Inkadinkado, With Love- CTMH
other- nestabilities, cuttlebug
