Unfortunately, I am in need of some sympathy cards for some friends who lost their dad this past week. I made one card for each of the family members and their families. We're friends with all three of the "kids" so this is really sad for us.
As a rule, I don't keep sympathy cards on hand because it isn't typically a "fun" card to make. I thought this card seemed appropriate for the occasion.
I used my aunts square nestabilities and embossed and then mounted them. Underneath, I stapled to position the V and then used a glue dot to adhere underneath the square shape and then used a glue dot to attach a button to the top.

stamps- Intrinsic Background and For Every Occasion- CTMH
ink- chocolate- CTMH
other- nestabilities- rectangle, cuttlebug, Walmart Buttons, Ribbon (from the stash)
My card:
I don't often make cards this size, so it was fun to get outside of the box for this card.
All the paper except for the white is from Wild Asparagus, which I believe to be from My Minds Eye. The orange color is the reverse side of the striped paper.
This card is made up of lots of layers. I scalloped the orange stock and then punched holes into each circle.
I stamped the onsie onto the striped stock in Garden Green (CTMH), cut that out and mounted it onto the white paper layer. This layer is also mounted onto the card front.
Recipe:
paper- my minds eye, white daisy- ctmh
ink- garden green- CTMH
Unfortunately, I need some sympathy cards for today, so that's my next project
Love the color combo. It's so springy and fresh! This card is certainly no muss- no fuss. Simply done and I decided to leave it at that. Hard to tell, but the Hello is stamped in brown. The green piece is mounted and I also stamped the bird on the card as well as layered him up a bit for some interest.
Ink colors- Crystal Blue, Garden Green and Chocolate- All CTMH
I played around with this sketch and decided to finish it off with layered buttons! These buttons were purchased at Walmart and they perfectly nest into each other! It was fun to alternate the colors. Pretty straightforward card. Lot's of layers!!
This is my first ever bloghop. I created a background using the flowers. I really like the color combo- I just created "rows" with the flowers, alternating colors for each row.
I like the caardvarks blog but have never participated in a sketch challenge. I liked the clean and simple layout of this sketch and decided to play along!
I spent a lot of time on this card, but I like the way it turned out.
1. Ran the aqua colored stock through the cuttlebug folder and then trimmed to fit the card front.
2. Cut white layer and stamped the grass image. To create the "grass", I used the bottom of the leaf stamp, essentially using it upside down to create grass. Tried to do second-generation stamping, but those images are very light and hard to see in the photo. The flower stem is made from a border stamp in the set of stamps that I used for this card.
3. Cut the flower shape using the cuttlebug and hello kitty die onto the pattern paper- LOVE that flower! I mounted this flower for some height.
4. Using the smallest circle nestabilitie, cut that shape and then ran that through the cuttlebug folder. Attached that and then put put waxy flax through a button and attached that as the final layer.
5. Cut the scallop circle shape with the nestabilitie and then used a round paper punch to create the top layer. Stamped the sentiment and DONE!
I really love the style over at Clean & Simple Stamping and I especially love Natasha's style. I created something similar (varying slightly from the sketch challenge shown above) using a set of stamps that I love, but don't find many samples of on other card blogs. Don't you just hate it when you get a new set of stamps, need some inspiration and can't find any? So, I decided to create my own inspiration, hopefully it helps somebody else who likes this stamp set!
I have always loved this clean, color combo as well! Breeze, sweet leaf and white....so crisp!
Played along with another fun color challenge over on Dawn's blog. Like usual, the card I had in my head is nothing like what came out on paper.
Pretty straightforward card. Randomly stamped all over and then I cut and embossed the label 1 nestabilities shape. I then sponged the edge with the chocolate ink, then used the brass stencil to protect the outside and inked the center of the shape with the creme brule ink on a sponge. Finished the little birdie off with glitter!

ink- bubblegum, chocolate, creme brule and sorbet- all CTMH
stamps- Little Star- Fancy Pants Design
other- Doodlebug glitter, nestabilities label 1, cuttlebug
Karen's Sketch was a fun one this week. I immediately knew the color combo I wanted to use. THe ink pads were all sitting together and I thought they looked nice together so I went with it.
Lot's of layers, punched holes in the scallops and finished off the flower with a KI Memories ice dot.
I might post a few more cards today. I rearranged my stamp room a bit and I think it was what I needed to get my creative juices flowing a bit!
This was really a challenge for me. It was hard to find the right way to combine these colors, but after trial and error, I think I achieved the look the way I wanted to in my head. The darker shade of pink (the darker outline of the flower) perfectly matches the glaze brad that I used.
If I were to give this away, I would definitely add a blue layer to the inside of the card.
I really like the clean and simple sketches and have recently participated in playing along.
Pretty explanatory...

Quite obviously I am really into the Intrinsic Background stamp set. I looked up from my computer at my ink pads and saw the black and Crème Brule ink pads sitting together and thought this would make a great color combo.
The flower is cut out and mounted onto the top of the card.

ink- Crème Brule and black- CTMH
other- The Paper Studio fabric brad, EK Success Dotted Wave Border Punch
I enjoyed that color combination and was on a roll. I like this card a little better than the one I submitted for the color challenge.
THis time, the squares were 1 1/2" and I then I stamped the intrinsic background and used my butterfly punch for the shapes.
Finished it off with a pearl brad!
Recipe stamps- intrinsic background and say it in style- CTMH ink- black other- The Paper Studio Pearl Brad, cuttlebug, Nestabilities Label 1, Martha Stewart butterfly punch, Martha Stewart Dotted Wave Punch
I'm digging the new stamp set I got and decided to combine a couple here for some depth and texture.
I used my white daisy ink pad (it's an old one that still works pretty good) to create the background on the black stock. Sort of takes on a grey tone. The small squares are cut 1 1/4" each and are mounted for some height. Then, I thought it needed a little something more so I stamped the same background pattern in black and then punched a butterfly out of it and attached that as well.
If I were going to give this away, I'd add a smaller, white layer on the inside for writing.
Recipe:
stamps- intrinsic backgrounds- CTMH
ink- daisy white and black- CTMH
other- MS butterfly punch
I wasted a lot of paper to come up with the final design and let me tell you it's nothing like what it started out to me.
I went to Michael's today and maybe I haven't looked at paper for a while, but Oh My Gah.....they have awesome, quality paper....I abruptly left because I already had a few items in my cart that shouldn't have been there. SEI, American Crafts....glittered, flocked, glazed.....Holy Hannah!!
This paper (all but the black) is from the We R Memory Keepers paper pack. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.
Lot's of layers to this card.

Decided to play along in my first card challenge over at 365 cards. Heather P. kindly mentioned that this also works for a layout challenge over at Clean & Simple Thanks Heather!
The challenge for both was to make a circle be the focal point of the card. Since I just made a card using the exact colors and stamps, I decided to make this as well because it's become my flavor of the day!

First, I want to acknowledge some awards and tags I've received and am FINALLY responding to. Brandi tagged me as one of her top 10 blogs. I can't tell you how gracious I am. When I started this blog, it was something that I hoped somebody other than my mom and dad would come back and read. I love to make cards and if I inspire somebody along the way than it gives me a warm fuzzy!
Now that I've been tagged, I have to tag 10 others who inspire me. It's hard to only list 10, since I follow 117 blogs. Thank Gawd for Google Reader! And my husband wonders why I'm on the computer all the time- HAAAAA! What's strange about Brandi tagging me is that I recently added her to my reader because I keep coming back to her blog!
And because I don't know how to share my entire Google Reader, here's my 10, in no particular order!

Tracy had a fun tag for me where you have to go to the 6th folder in your pictures folder and select the 6th picture. And no cheating! This was a fun one to recall. This is in the front yard of our house last fall. We have two big, beautiful trees on the side of our house that create lot's of "fun" raking in the fall.
Now, for the card!! I received my (slightly large) order of CTMH googies and played with some new stamps for this card:
