hello

I stamped this simple card today. I used the cuttlebug on the top 3/4" of the card, leaving space enough for a sentiment. I've mentioned before that I love the combination of light blue with red and had a chance to use it on this card.

I used my EK success scallop square punch for the shape and then added a mounted felt flower with brad center.

heart you

I liked the color combo from my last card so much I decided to use it again. The background design is inked over with black ink, so that the ink only picked up the embossed images.

The green strip of paper is from a Bazzil pack of paper, so it has some texture to it. I trimmed the green stock with my Stampin Up decorative-edged scissors.

The yellow stock was cut and embossed with my nestabilities Label 1 die. The heart is a felt shape from The Paper Studio and the YOU is stamped in black.

Color Inspiration #39

Kristina's Color Challenge:

My card:
What a great color combo. I went for simplicity on this card. I used my postage stamp punch and a felt heart from The Paper Studio. I added two white brads to the heart, to bring in the white one more time.

The black layer is trimmed, leaving a 1/4" border of the white stock to further incorporate the white portion of the challenge.

I also mounted the postage stamp pieces for some height.

Paper- olive, honey, black and daisy white all CTMH
ink- black

thank you cards

I needed two thank you cards to send out tomorrow so I made it easy on myself and made them identical. I love this color combo. It's very similar to the paint colors in my bathroom.

I used scraps for this project! The blue and polka dot DP is the same stock-one is the front, one is the back. The green stripe is a separate piece and is attached below. For the scallop squares, I used my Marvy punches. Easy Peasy.

I FINALLY got some felt shapes! I found these little flowers from the dollar spot at Target. They come in little 6 packs. Super cute.

Oh, and I layered the white square shape for some height.

sweet sunday sketch challenge #1

I found another challenge to participate in from a blog I frequent. This was her layout challenge:

This is my card:

I used one of my favorite paper sets. This is Silhouette paper, black and bamboo, all CTMH. Come to think of it, everything about tonight's card is from CTMH. I popped the flowers off the sentiment layers for a little height.

Mojo Monday Week 70

The layout:

My card:
I enjoyed the sketch this week. The flower image is a rub on and I used embellishments from Hero Arts for the centers. The rectangle layers are all 1/4" borders. I mounted this layer over the circle layers.

The circle and scallop layers are also embossed. I used black brads on the circle layer. The white layer was also embossed and is sort of floating over the other circle layers. It's just attached to the rectangle layers.

Recipe:
paper- creme brulee, black and daisy white- all CTMH
ink- black CTMH
other- American Crafts Rub Ons, Hero Arts embellishments, Brads from The Paper Shop, ribbon is from my stash.

OCC Technique Challenge- Emboss Resist

I participated in a challenge over at OCC. This was a technique challenge- emboss resist. I like this technique but don't use it often.

I took a white piece of stock (non-glossy) and then clear embossed, using versamark, randomly over the card stock. Then I took my ink pad with the cover removed, and rubbed it all over the paper, making sure to go over the flowers so that the ink covered the vein area of the leaf.

As you can see, the paper was very absorbent and didn't cover the stock 100%. I liked this look because it reminded me of suede. Then I took a regular cotton pad from my cosmetic bag and rubbed the ink off the flowers to make them pop out of the ink!

Then, I used the cuttlebug and nestabilities to create the layers for the sentiment. Finished it off with some clear gems from Hero Arts.

Boutqiue card

This card reminds me of a cute little boutique shop.

I used some Christmas stamps that I got at The Scrapbook Shop of St. Paul , which has actually since moved to Circle Pines....in a non-Christmas way. I randomly stamped the two different flourishes all over the glossy paper and then made a few layers to match the stamped images.

3D Flowers

The color challenge:

My Card:

I wanted to do something totally different for this card. I love the spring-like colors that this challenge offered.

I was playing with different layouts and decided to cut out the entire stamped image and than mount it (under each of the flowers) onto the DP. And can I just say that it took me FOREVER to cut out the flower.

I finished it off by poking holes in the pink layer as well as using rhinestones for the centers of the flowers. They are the same baby pink color as the paper.

Recipe:
stamps- I do not know the name of this stamp. I love the set and wish I could identify it.

vase of Flowers Greeting Card

I wanted to play with the vase of flowers stamp from my Fiskars stamp set. I really need to figure out how to use my camera so that it shows detail. Hard to tell, but I used a diamond glaze over the flower petals for a little shine. There are also itty bitty brads in the centers of each flower.

The challenge:
My card:

I varied from the sketch a little bit. I just didn't like the spacial layout of doing this side fold with this layout.

I combined two stamp sets because they kind of work together. The main image and two circles on the outside are CTMH Friendship Blessings and the middle circle image is from Fiskars Gracias, Merci, Grazi set of clear stamps.

Color Inspiration #37

The challenge:

My card:

I used a new swirl from a stamp set that came with my Fiskars Stamp Machine. Hard to tell from the photo, but the heart is mounted on the left side and the congrats is mounted on top of that. I polished it off with a pearl brad.

The flourish background stamp is actually one tiny stamp that I stamped repeatedly to create a background image.

Recipe:
stamps- Fiskars Gracias Merci Grazie, CTMH Heartfelt & CTMH For Every Occasion
ink- garden green, juniper, orange all CTMH
paper- glossy white and brown from my stash
other- pearl brad from The Paper Store

baby card

Today is my second anniversary as a blogger! It's been a fun journey. Now, if only I could get paid to sit home and blog :)

I made this card for friends that are expecting their 2nd baby.
I don't have gender-neutral baby DP so I decided to combine both pink and blue together.

The solid ovals are the reverse of the said polka dot DP. The blue layer is popped for a little depth.

Mojo Monday 68

The Sketch:

My card:

I really liked this sketch challenge. I used a favorite color combo of mine. I think the black and white together along with any other 3rd color makes everything pop!

The DP is another favorite of mine because of the color, style and the texture. I am continuing to work with glossy paper because i think it really pops the image.

And of course, had to use my nesties....

retro birthday card

When I asked Dusty what he thought of the card I made for today's blog post, he said it looked a bit retro and I agree with him, hence the title of this post.

The paper is My Minds Eye- love it. It's thick and has some texture. I embossed the label die and then I used the die as a mask, so to speak and then chalked the glossy stock with chalk. , so that it stayed within the embossing.

I decided to make a banner out of the happy birthday sentiment and then mounted it. The white stocks are glossy- I've enjoyed using that the last few days.

grateful

I worked off a layout of a previous card that I did and tweaked just a tad bit. I recently purchased the matte for the nestabilities so that I can emboss and that is my newest addiction1

The DP (design paper) that is polka dotted was cut 4 x 4. It has a distressed look and I love it. The white layers are all glossy paper. Kind of fun to work with but you do need to work with care when using glossy paper.

I took my glaze pen and made dots around the white layers. I like how that turned out.

Card Recipe:

Paper- My Minds Eye, black- CTMH, glossy- from my stash
Stamps- Treasure Tlife and Say it With Style- CTMH
Ink- juniper- CTMH
other- Nestabilities Label 1, Cuttlebug, black Glaze Pen- Sakura
