Kristina's Color Inspiration #36

The Color inspiration:

The card....

It's a fun, spring- like color combo. I ran the tulip paper through the Cuttlebug, hard to tell from the picture, but the light pink paper also has a texture to it. I embossed the nestabilities for the first time ever.

I stamped the bird after I cut and embossed it. Then for some extra fun, I added the clip.

paper- tulip- CTMH, white column paper from my stash, pink texture (possibly Bazzil)

MOJO67 Mojo Monday

Julee's sketch:
My card:

I really like the sketches that Julee does on her site. Here is my version of her sketch. Like I said in my previous post, I love the paper that I used in this card. Oh, and the blue stock is actually from Crate Paper and not SEI like I said before.

The pearl brads are from The Paper Salon. I really like these.

Recipe:
stamps- CTMH: Say It With Style, Thing of Beauty
ink- CTMH- Chocolate and Juniper
paper- SEI and Crate Paper

valentine card

I am totally in love with some paper I got at the scrapbook shop by SEI. It's textured and pretty plain, but I love it. The layer brown layer (not the card stock base itself) is the reverse side of the light blue paper. Just love it.

The heart is from CTMH heart is stamped in a new ink color called Juniper by CTMH and is stamped on the light blue textured paper and then cut out and mounted as the top layer of the card.

I repeated the blue textured paper for the inside of the card so a message can be written on it.

MOJO66 Mojo Monday on Saturday

I loved the sketch that Julee posted this past Monday but especially loved her card. I didn't think I should copy it exactly for my card so this is what I created.

The paper is all from SEI (except for the brown base and circle layer). The stamped piece was a resist technique. I embossed the stamp twice in Versamark and then clear embossed. Once it cooled off, I rubbed an ink pad all over it, then wiped off the image with a cotton ball to remove the ink from the embossed images.

I topped it off with a pearl brad in the lower left corner. The circles were made with the nestabilities and my cuttlebug.

Merry Christmas Eve

This is the card that should have been made for all my friends and family, but I didn't quite get my act together in time this year. Instead, I made 6 of these and I will be hand delivering the cards today when I get together with my family for Christmas Eve and Dusty's family tomorrow for Christmas Day.

I decided to go for simple this year for my card. And I love doing non-traditional colors. The patterned paper is from SEI. Hard to see from the photo, but there is a white brad in the center of the snowflake.

I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!

I used my corner punch for the scallops. The layers that the snowflake are on were cut with the Nesties Label 1 and my Cuttlebug

handmade gifts

I made some peanut butter cup cookies to bring for Christmas Eve and decided to package some up for Dusty's friend. I got these cute treat bags at a Gage & Gage warehouse sale in Shakopee. They worked almost perfectly for the cookies. I say almost because they will likely not travel very well- the cookies will not be in neat towers upon delivery, but they look cute for the picture.

I made a tag using my new nestabilities Label 1 die, run through the Cuttlebug. The Merry Christmas stamp is from Say it In Style- CTMH and the To From is from It's a Party- also CTMH,

Cookie Recipe:
  • 36 Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, unwrapped
  • 1/2 cup peant butter
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/4 cups flower
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
1. Cream peanut butter, butter, sugar and brown sugar until fluffy.
2. Add egg, vanilla, flour, baking soda and salt' mix well.
3. Roll into 1-inch balls (I use small cookie scoop) and place in miniature muffin tins with or without papers.
4. Bake 8-10 minutes at 375°F.
5. When tins are removed from oven, immediately press 1 peanut butter cup into the center of the cookie.
6. Allow to cool completely before removing cookies from the tin.

Easy Cheesy!

baby it's cold outside and a card

we're in a winter weather advisory this weekend. With wind chill, the temp is -30 and the wind is supposed to pick up today. Brrrr. this is what the scenery is outside my dining room window today.

I am procrastinating making my Christmas cards. Don't know what's wrong with me, but I've been making every kind of card, except my Christmas cards....Apparently, I'm looking ahead to Valentine's Day already.

I got a new Spellbinders die- Label 1 Nestabilities....Love it! Had to play and this is what I came up with. I also really like the paper that I played with. I've had it in my stash for a while and love pulling out out for the perfect card. It's two sided paper- the base of the card is a weathered look, the inside of that is white so that acts as the inside of the card. The bottom layer is a weathered black and then I layered and mounted the weathered polka dot layer. On top of that, I stamped and mounted a heart. Love all the layers.

Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #47

Taylor's layout challenge:

My version:

I played along with Taylor's sketch challenge. I'm really digging the dp (designer paper) from K & Company. I did multiple layers of that and then used my cuttlebug with nestabilities to cut the scallops. The cupcake was stamped in chocolate on cream paper, then cut out and mounted onto the brown scallop. Celebrate was stamped on the crackled dp. There are 3 itty bitty brads to finish it off.

Paper- K & Company, chocolate- CTMH

kristina's challenge

Kristina's color inspiration:

My version

I really like this mellow combination that Kristina picked out this week. I used layers and texture. The flowers are chipboard from KI Memories. The centers of the flower incorporate the vanilla color and they have stickles as well for some sparkle, although it doesn't pick up very well in the photograph.

Recipe:
stamps- CTMH Say it with style
paper- chocolate, desert sand, buttercup and vanilla cream- all CTMH

banner help

I am not technically gifted and was tickled pink that i was able to download a digital file for my blog banner but it's HUGE...can anybody help me figure out what size I need to make my photo shop elements file??? I'd appreciate any help that anybody could give me!

Poetic Artistry Challenge

The challenge:

My version:

I played along with Julee's card challenge that she does every Monday....I've always admired her stamp line and of course her cards and decided I had time to play along this week.

I used some paper from American Crafts. The layer that the star is on is edged in black ink by simply rubbing the paper across the ink pad. Then I mounted the star on top of that. For a different look, I ran the ribbon nearly to the edge of the paper and finished it off with a button.

sending my love

I didn't know what kind of sentiment to put on this card. I wanted something long and I think this works. As it turns out, I need a sympathy card so I believe this sentiment will be appropriate.

THe paper is that SEI stuff that I've been using. I love the colors. The orange layer is the back side of the a coordinating paper and the orange layer (middle layer) is the back of the bottom layer. Follow all that?

I embossed the flourish image in copper ink. I hoped the look would be as shiny as the copper stripe that is part of the paper, it's a little dull but I think it works. Then I embossed the flowers on the orange middle layer stock and cut them out and mounted them. i finished them off with a brushed bronze brad.

Recipe:
Stamps- Hero Arts Merry Christmas, CTMH Thing of Beauty and Say it With Style
Other- embossing powder, brushed copper eyelets
Paper- SEI

Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #45

Taylor's Sketch Challenge:

My Card:
I participated in my first challenge over at Taylor's blog. You might have noticed that the title of this post is a cupcake challenge...well, luckily, Taylor opens up the challenges to non-cupcake cards. She provides a sketch and you come up with your version of her sketch

I got this fun paper at Hobby Lobby by My Minds Eye. Love this brand of paper. The pink layer of paper that has scalloped edges is mounted on top of the patterned paper.

The buttons are topped off with waxy flax.

celebrate

I made this celebrate card for a friend who just was offered a new job. I found this paper in a stash that I haven't paid much attention to. I found two pieces of patterned paper that I thought went together and camem up with this card.

The base of the card is made of kraft card stock. The polka dot layer is mounted (hard to tell from the photo) and then ribbon is tied around that. The circle with the bird is also mounted and the scallop was punched with my nestabilities in the cuttlebug. I glittered the bird as well, but it makes the flourish in the bird a little hard to see.

I stamped celebrate in the same stock as the card was made out of and cut it to look like a banner. Then I inked the edges in black ink and mounted that too. I like all the layers of this card.

Recipe:
ink- black from CTMH
stamps- Free Spirit and Say it with Style- CTMH
other- prisma glitter, nestabilities, cuttlebug, ribbon

possible Christmas Card

I am trying to come up with my Christmas cards for this year and this is a contender.... The layers consist of a 3 3/4 x 2 3/4 which is actually the same color stock as the base of the card but it is edged with a gold pen. Then the top layer is slightly smaller than that. That layer was stamped with clear embossing powder and then I rubbed twilight ink all over it. There is a layer of acetate on top of that, in which I stamped Merry Christmas with black stazon. I very carefully used my tombow refill on the corners of the acetate to attach it to the layer with the stars.

The image that is stamped on the center of the card base is also clear embossed.

Recipe:
stamps- SEI Alpine Frost
Paper- brown is from my stash, acetate, white (the stamped layer with the snowflakes)
ink- black stazon, versamark
other- clear embossing powder, gold metallic pen

It's been a long time since I've last posted!! I've not been feeling very creative lately. I'm going to work on getting my mojo back this weekend though!

To get back in the swing of things, I played along with Mommy Scraps color challenge. The colors to be used for the challenge were: crème' brule, twilight, crystal blue, and sorbet.

I ran the twilight stock through the cuttlebug so that the texture would only be on a portion of the stock. The stars are stamped and mounted on top of the stock. Then, I layered the sentiment on a piece of crystal blue stock.

Recipe:
paper- twilight, daisy white, crystal blue- all CTMH
ink- twilight, crystal blue, crème' brule,, and sorbet- all CTMH
stamps- Shining Star- CTMH

Have a great Friday!
