happy thanksgiving

I hope everybody had a nice thanksgiving. First up is the card I made today. I like the simple layers of the concept. I ran the desert sand layers through the cuttlebug. The card is all about layers! For the flower, I stamped in hollyhock ink onto the hollyhock paper. Then I mounted a piece of desert sand stock that was stamped in desert sand. The black polka dot center of the flower was actually stamped onto desert sand paper with Stazon ink.

I used some waxy flax in hollyhock to tie off the button. I then repeated the paper layers on the inside of the card

This fabulous recipe is curtousy of my friend Charlene, who made this for a department meeting at work. Yum-O.

Card Recipe:
paper- black, hollyhock and desert sand- all CTMH
ink- hollyhock, desert sand and black- all CTMH and black stazon
stamps- cottage floral- CTMH
other- cuttlebug and a dot folder, hollyhock button and hollyhock waxy flax- both CTMH

Make a package of brownies and let cool for an hour. Then cut up into chunks. Prepare a box of Jello pudding and pie. I used devil's food. Also take a 1/4 cup of caramel topping and mix it with a container of cool whip. I also used a cup of chopped walnuts.

Layer half the brownie chunks, half the pudding and half the cool whip and nuts. Repeat the layers! Chill for 2 hours, but no longer than 24. A-W-E-S-O-M-E and E-A-S-Y!!

And, some pictures of the turkeys and chickens that my husband smoked on Wednesday with his own little rub concoction.

Have a good weekend! Hopefully it's a long one for you.

color challenge

Another of Kristina's color challenges. I really like this combo...

My card is this....

I used a new set of stamps called Alpine Frost by SEI and also got to play with my new metal stickers.

I created the background image by stamping the border stamp continuously. Then, for some dimension I ran it threw the cuttlebug.

Recipe:
ink- holiday red and desert sand-both CTMH
stamps- Alpine Frost- SEI, Festive Thoughts- CTMH
Paper- Kraft paper, white daisy and vanilla cream
other- cuttlebug, metal stickers

give thanks

I am LOVING the new paper from SEI that I got at The Scrapbook Shop of St. Paul.

I thought the paper called for a special card. Card size is 5 1/2 x 5 1/2. The front of the card is trimmed an inch shorter than the back of the card. The paper that is on the back inside of the card (white with orange) is the reverse of the paper on the front of the card.

Don't you love how it has shiny copper?

The blue cardstock has a brown on the reverse side. The blue serves as the base of the stock and was made to complement the patterned paper.

The circles were all cut with the nestabilities dies in the cuttlebug

hello

Here is a pretty simple card.I randomly stamped the flowers on the white paper. The ribbon isn't tied down, just simply taped in the front, right side near the edge to hold it in place. It's trimmed at an angle, just slightly smaller than the card size so that it doesn't hang off the edge.

Then I cut the scallop and plain circle, randomly stamped the flower around the edge and hello was stamped in the iddle. If you look closely to the round circle, you'll notice I poked holes around the edge. I was planning for something different and switched gears.

Stamps- Rustic Flowers and Say it With Style- both CTMH
ink- watermelon, sorbet and chocolate- all CTMH
other- ribbon from my stash. Paper from my stash.

'nother baby card

This is a card I made for my stamp club card exchange. I like how simple it is and I got to use a new set of stamps that I purchased at The Scrapbook Shop of St. Paul. Awesome store. I'm telling you to go there if you are in the St. Paul area!

The card stock is a white linen. The patterened paper has a green back and that is what i used to stamp welcome little one on . I used my corner rounder. The onesie is also stamped on the linen stock, cut out and mounted.

The brand new circle was a bit tricky, but worked perfectly. First, I cut out the circle using my nestabilities die (smallest) and then I stamped on the circle. It just barely fit. Then, I mounted that as well.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

ink- sweet leaf- CTMH
Paper- white linen- archivers, patterned paper- bo bunny press

baby card

I made another baby card because i didn't love the one from yesterday.

I stamped all the button images on a separate piece of card stock and then simply punched out with my circle punch. The watermelon colored button stamps are also mounted for some height.

Then I used the polka dots on a separate sheet of paper and stamped in two different colors. Then I rounded the corners and inked the edges. The welcome little one! Stamp is steped on top of that and the edges were inked on that as well.

ink- creme brule, watermelon and sorbet

baby card

My sister is having a baby today! I made this card for her and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I thought it would be cute to incorporate polka dots on the Thickers to tie in with the textured paper...but I think the placement of the dots in the valleys of the B's make Baby look like DADY.

Dusty said it looks fine, but that's what he always tells me when I ask his opinion on the cards.
Not sure if you can tell, but the middle elephant is stamped on the polka dotted paper, cut out and mounted onto the green stock, which happens to be the reverse side of the polka dotted
paper.

I stamped the polka dots onto the Thickers after I placed them on the card. I used black Stazon for that portion.

Oh, and the stamps were purchased at a great store in St. Paul called The Scrapbook Shop of St. Paul. If you haven't been, you are missing out!!!

Off to the hospital!

simple stars

Here is a very simple card!
I stamped the stars on the card stock as well as a separate piece of paper in the same ink colors, cut them out and mounted them on top of the stamped stars.

I think the card could use a sentiment or a swirl on the bottom of the card, but I left it plain-jane for now.

Ink- tulip and sorbet- CTMH

star card

I really dig this patterned/textured paper by Bo Bunny Press. The card base, teal layer of stock and then the top layer (that is under the star) is all the same paper! The top layer of the paper was run through the cuttlebug folder and is the polka dotted paper and then scalloped with my corner rounder. The middle, teal layer, is the reverse side of this polka dot patterned paper.

The star was stamped in twilight ink, cut out and mounted onto the card base and finished off with a gem brad.

Recipe:
paper- bo bunny press (all of it but the star), white linen from Archivers (star)
ink- twilight by CTMH
other- gem brad by Paper Salon from Hobby Lobby, cuttlebug machine & tiny bubbles embossing folder

Have a great rest of the week!

love. hope. peace

I've been concepting some Christmas cards for my friend and this is one that she didn't go with but I kind of like the simplicity of it. I made a triangle and then ran it through my cuttlebug.
The stamp sort of acts like the tree trunk. The paper is from my stash and has a slight column texture to it.

card challenge

Another challenge. Nice, mellow yet crisp color combination.
I used new england ivy, white, brown kraft and sweet leaf.
I first stamped the heart in sweet leaf onto the white stock and then I ran it through the cuttlebug with the dot folder. Then I stamped the heart again on a different sheet of paper and cut out and mounted onto the white base card. The birthday stamp is stamped and layered on the brown kraft and finished off with a floral brad!

Love the color combo.

out of the card slump

Hello! I didn't post last week because i was really in a card slump....today I cam home from lunch and created a quick card that I really like and plan to play a little more with this layout when I have more time.

I used my cuttlebug folder to emboss a piece of acetate. It might be sort of hard to tell on the card but I think the shiny-ness reflects and that is the acetate. On the smaller paper you can see how I cut a little slit into the folded side of the card so I could run my ribbon through it. And....I tied (what I consider) to be the perfect bow on my first try!!! Do you think I'll be able to do it again? Doubtful...

The Thickers were placed over the acetate and the heart was stamped and cut out and is also just glued to the acetate.

I plan to play with some goodies I picked up at The Scrapbook Shop in St. Paul. Love this store!

Enjoy your week!

Recipe:
Paper- acetate (from Office Depot) and some green textured paper from my stash
stamps- heart is from heartfelt
other- American Crafts thickers and ribbon from my stash.

red, white and blue

Here is a card I made for my stamp club tonight. I love, love, love this paper by Bo Bunny Press. It's thick, textured and made to look a little weathered.

To adhere the ribbon, I cut a tiny little slit into the fold. Then I used my nestabilties to create the circles and scallop shapes. The bottom layer of the circles is mounted up a bit for some height.

I was having a hard time figuring out what color to stamp the heart and finally Dusty chimed in with RED. I think it works and I love the color combo. Reminds me of an outfit that Carrie wore in Sex and the City. Red pants with a beautiful, aqua colored riding coat.

I hope you had a chance to vote today. I can't wait to see how this all pans out, and more importantly for the end of the political commercials. Ugh.

new stamps!

Went scrapbook/stamp shopping with my aunt and mom on Friday- much more fun than working!!

Got lots of fun new supplies that I can't wait to create with.

Here's a very simple set of holiday cards that I made for my Etsy shop. I used a great cream, column paper. I stamped the two stamps in versamark and then embossed in detail gold embossing powder. Then I rounded the corners to finish it off! Easy Cheesy.

Recipe:
Paper- from my stash
stamps- SEI Alpine Frost I (I am pretty sure I'm going to love these new stamps)
other- versamark and detail gold embossing powder

Enjoy what is left of this beautiful weekend!
