Cricut Artiste Treat Bag

Here is a treat bag I made with the Cricut Artiste Cartridge from CTMH.
This was super easy to put together. One thing I did realize is that you need to cut this from a 12x12 sheet of cardstock in order to get this size. I believe I cut it at 4".

The paper I used is from Bazzil and stamped the flower from Love Blooms (one of my faves). The banner is from the set of stamps that comes with the Artiste Cartridge and I rubbed Stickles along the edges of the banner, which is also popped up.

I made a few of these treat bags- perfect for a few pieces of chocolate or even a gift card and I decided to repeat the stamped image on the inside too. Oh....who am I kidding??? I accidentally stamped on the wrong side of the paper so I just went with it anyway, afterall, who wants to waste an entire 12 x 12 sheet of paper when there are literally hundreds more in my stash? Right, girls?!! Ha!!

happy new year + book journal

Happy New Year!  Where does the time go? I have a lot of projects that are completed or in the works, yet they don't seem to make it onto my blog.

I am an avid reader and I like to keep track of the books I have read. I have scraps of paper, computer printouts, lists here and there all just waiting for the perfect book journal to record them in.

Please tell me I am not alone....

I have a project in my mind and if I can't create it as perfectly as it is in my head, the project goes unfinished?

Prime example.... I have created and ripped apart numerous handmade journals because they just weren't what I had pictured in my head or I was afraid that some sort of creative police would show up at my door and shame me and my book journal.

These tend to be my hangups...I want my books to be listed chronological but also by author. Finally, I decided on this method...I will record them chronologically in a cute journal
(has to be cute) by month and year and then in my computer I will continue to update my books in a list that can be sorted by author.

So after literally years of consideration, where does one start to record books read? Again, trying to get over the fact that there is no book journal police.

Alas, here is my project. It's kind of funny because after Y E A R S of thinking about this, it took me all of 3 minutes to slap myself silly and sit down and put some stickers on a notebook.

Cute Notebook from Target + stickers from my stash + washi tape =

I love how it turned out and we'll see if this method works for the long term. I decided to use the washi tape on the inside to separate years. I am also recording my books by month.  If you cared to look at the books I've read in the last few months, you'll notice I'm on the Angie Almafi Series by Joanne Pence. Can't read the series fast enough!!

Do you record your books and if so, how? Can you make a book recommendation?

scoring

I don't use my martha stewart score board nearly enough, so it was fun to pull it out and play along with the CAS-ual Friday challenge this week.

Here is my card:

I thought the fillable frames stamp coordinated nicely with the challenge. I mounted the sentiment stamp on top for even more dimension.

hi

Goodness!! A 2 month blog hiatus??!!  I hope some of you are still out there. I've been stamping but just have not found (or made) time to post to my blog. I especially loved this card enough to share with you. Bazzil kraft- just the perfect weight and color in my opinion paired with a doily and some washi in red gingham and then I mounted another piece of the kraft paper with the sentiment. simple & easy- my favorite!!

Thanks for stopping by- I hope you are having a wonderful holiday season!

hello life

I was at Hobby Lobby and happened to get some embossing plates on clearance (Holla!) and the one I used on this card is one of them- love that pattern. I inked the inside of the folder before putting my cardstock in it so it looks a bit like letterpress.

Thanks for looking!

life is good

Here is a card I Created with some new stamps.... I just love this particular layout- a couple of layers along with a stamped-all-over with the larger image as a focal point. I am so completely impressed with this stamp set- its a two-step process for the outline stamp and then it is a dotted image to make it look all faded and cool.
I popped up the flower and I love how this came together. I stamped the life is good sentiment right over the other stamped images an it showed up great!

zig to the zag

I used the Clean & Simple sketch for the basis of my card. Instead of using angled paper, I decided to use a stamp set that I thought worked the same way. Love this set by Avery Elle
so I was happy to find another way to use it!

I used chocolate and hollyhock inks. The raised image was cut using the art philosophy cricut cartridge and stamped with perfect fit frames from CTMH.  Super simple card to make!

leaf challenge

Here is a card that I made for the leaf challenge at CASology this week.

First, I trimmed a piece of white card stock 1/8 of an inch smaller than the standard card.

Then I embossed with gold embossing powder a leaf onto an old piece of Basic Grey card stock, trimmed and mounted to the top of the card. Love that leaf- its a really old Hero Arts stamp that I actually used for my wedding napkins 11 years ago.

Then I stamped the sentiment onto the yellow stamped image.

10 minute craft dash

I created this card for Paulina's 10 Minute Craft Dash challenge. Who doesn't love a card that comes together in under 10 minutes. Which begs the question, why does it always take me longer than 10 minutes? Are you with me??

This card actually too 7 min and 30 seconds. The hardest part was getting the twine through the button holes!

I picked up a new embossing folder at Hobby Lobby- the animal print and I used my cranberry ink pad and inked the inside of the folder so that it would ink the embossed area on my card. The technique is fun and came together quickly.   The sentiment is from the dollar spot at Michaels- love the font combo on that. The button and twine are from CTMH.

One of my all time favorite color combos is kraft, white and aqua so this was a fun challenge and I plan to play again!

Tag...You're It!

This is one Paper Issues challenge you will not want to miss out on........more about that at the end of the post.

I created my card using a kraft base (can't get enough of the kraft paper) and then added a piece of trimmed lagoon colored stock, then a trimmed page from a book and inked up the edges a bit on that. Then I added a tag that I cut from my CTMH Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge- love the leave design. I stamped the sentiment in Tim Holtz walnut ink and then popped it up on the card front at an angle. I added a coordinating bakers twine to the tag and there we have it.

Now, on to the amazing giveaway I spoke of... this eBosser by Craftwellis going to one lucky winner. All you have to do is like them on their Facebook Page as well as you need to like the Paper Issues Facebook Page. A winner will be announced on September 23rd and you can check here to see who the winner will be!  This is a $199 prize, ladies!!

Now, be sure and go to check out the other PI Design Team projects:

Asymmetry Challenge

This was a tough challenge for me but I believe I achieved asymmetry for the  asymmetry moxie fab challenge... the eye is drawn up with the washi tape along the left side of the card and it brings you eye down since it goes below the focal image of the flower- then there is a seemingly similar size across from the focal point with the sentiment in the right corner.

The aqua paper is funky- it is a shimmery paper with texture by GCD and I love it! The Hero Arts flower I colored sections of it with my prisma marker.

Thanks for looking!!

Repetition Challenge

Hello! I created this card for Repetition Challenge in the Moxie Fab Challenge and my repetition is dots and circles...

I created the images on the banners by stamping the same circle image in the three various colors. I trimmed those and mounted them onto the layer of cardstock that has the dots embossed (cuttlebug). Then I popped a punched out shape with the sentiment and continued the circles with the adhesive rhinestones.

pink sun birthday

I made this card for my niece who had her golden birthday this July. I stamped in cotton candy ink onto cotton candy paper. The sun was stamped in honey ink and mounted to the card front. the 7 sticker is a fuzzy sticker from american crafts. She loved it and immediately took the sticker off :)

Loving this new set of Avery Elle stamps. I also entered this card a new challenge blog and this weeks cue was to use a sun on the card:

you brighten my day!

I just received a stamp order from a new company, Avery Elle, and I am in love!! Fast shipping, clean and simple stamp designs and adorable packaging. Totally looking forward to future releases from AE!! Here is the first card I created with my new stamps. I should also mention that they included two samples of their 100% card stock and I used it to make this card. I like the way the paper absorbed the ink and will likely add their paper to my next stamp order! On to the card....

I used CTMH Cranberry, Ocean and Honey Ink pads. The circle stamp image with the border was stamped, punched out using my 1.5" circle punch and mounted to the front of the card.

Thanks for stopping by!!

hello

Is anybody still out here? I can't seem to find time for blogging time this summer, its been fun and busy so far...as a matter of fact, I haven't even taken pictures of all of the cards that I've given out the last few months.

This card I created using universal backgrounds in grey wool. Then I stamped the hello sentiment in black and added an adhesive pearl. The flower is stamped in cranberry and mounted onto the card front.

Thanks for looking and I hope you are having a fantastic summer so far!! Trying not to melt in my neck of the woods, as is the rest of the country from the sounds of it...

more cowbell...errr I mean hexagon

I am really digging the stamp set I purchased from Schlosser Designs and it ties in so nicely with the Paper Issues Challenge (honey bee theme). I decided to use the largest frame of the stamp set and stamped it on pattern paper (Echo Park For The Record.......LOVE this paper set- I'm using it for a San Francisco Mini Album so I decided to use some scraps for this card.

Anyhow, I randomly stamped the fronts and backs of some of the patterns. I layered them onto a piece of paper, same stock as the card base. Then I added two punched borders on either side because it felt like it needed something more. After much deliberation, I decided to leave those hexagon shapes as the focal image. I wanted to put something on it (a bird maybe) but didn't want to cover up any of the papers because I love them all much more than would be considered normal. The only thing I don't like about it, and I shouldn't even point this out, but i intended for a horizontal layout so the words are sideways.... You'd think that with approximately 3,450 stamps laying around my room that I'd have had a sentiment that would have fit the card horizontally.....

But I needed this to be a sympathy card that so this is the way it ended up. Love the font of the sentiment. the inside says....You are in my prayers.  This is from Card Chatter- Sympathy and I love this stamp set. you can see it here

Thanks for stopping by. P.S. Where did May go??

honey bee challenge

Here is a card I created for the Honey Bee Challenge over at Paper Issues- super fun challenge and I encourage you to go play along!

I pulled out some new stamps that I've not yet played with but I thought they were perfect for the Honey Bee theme due to the shape of the stamps. I mixed and matched the different designs by first stamping the black frame and then filling in with the different stamps. I them trimmed them out and randomly placed them on the kraft cardstock and then added a little teeny happy birthday sentiment.

I also think this card is could pass for masculine, so its nice to have one of those stashed away when the occasion arises.

clean & simple for the weekend

Hello! I am about to enjoy a long weekend! I've been looking forward to this for a while...here is a card I made for the CAS sketch today....

Super simple. I trimmed some smoothie stock to go onto the kraft card and then stamped the woodgrain image repeatedly to create the background, stamped the happy birthday sentiment onto that then cut a flower using the Cricut and Art Philosophy Cartridge. I found a rhinestone brad. I like the rustic feel with a little bling!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Thanks for stopping by!

doilies & lace

Here is my card for the Doilies & Lace Challenge in the Moxie Fab World First I stamped the doily stamp in sunset and then I repeatedly stamped the background stamp over it in versamark and embossed in pearl silver.  The Happy Birthday sentiment is popped up and bent a bit so it's wavy which is easier to see in the photo below.

I like how it has a vintage-y feel yet is still clean & crisp.  I look forward to playing a bit more with this challenge and coming up with some other cards.
